So, Eli LOVES to dance. He loves music & loves to move his little tooshie when he hears a good beat. When i clean house or am just working in the house in general, i tend to keep my ipod docked & playing music. This particular day, i happened to have the camera in the kitchen when i was home on a Monday cleaning. Eli was in the mood & had NO idea the camera was rolling. Enjoy! (And excuse my constant interruptions, but i was trying to move the chairs so you could see him behind the table... not the best set up, but i didn't want to give away that i was videoing because i knew he would stop!)

There's a first time for everything!
Even a first time to trek off to the ER with one of your kiddos! Thursday evening, Eli & Jackson were playing in our driveway. I was inside cooking dinner & Randy was working in the garage with the door up so he could watch the boys. We have a Tonka dump truck that is big enough that the boys love to sit in the back of it & roll down the driveway which is just sloped enough to get a little speed. As i was cooking, i heard Eli crying & then i heard Randy tell Jackson to put all the toys up that they had to take Eli to the doctor. My stomach lurched because i knew it must be bad! Sure enough, Eli had slipped out of the back of the truck at just the right time/angle to slam his head into the rim of my Jeep tire. It was split wide open & bleeding. Because i was in the middle of a meal that would have to be thrown out otherwise & because i knew Randy was so calm & collected in these situations, i sent him off to the ER with Eli. I figured there was no sense in us ALL waiting all night in the ER because Jackson had school the next morning & it was already 7:30. So Randy took Eli & got to the ER about 8:15pm & called to check in every so often. They waited about an hour before going back to triage. There they put some numbing cream on his head, & wrapped it in dinosaur "sticky" gauze, sending them back out to the waiting area until they could see the doctor. Little did they know they would be waiting another THREE hours for that!
Pardon the crummy quality of these photos, but they were taken with my phone. (And after Randy snapped them, someone told him it was illegal to take photos in the ER...whoops!)

So, after 3 more hours, wearing down the entire battery to Jackson's gameboy, & watching the Fox & the Hound on the waiting room TV, they were called back to see the doctor at 12:15am! And no, Eli didn't sleep during any of this time, surprisingly! But he did get agitated with the gauze on his head!

Randy said he was a trooper & that he didn't cry not one tear! Randy laid with him on the hospital bed, spooning him to help keep him calm. (He is such a good, calm daddy. I would have been a mess if i were there!) I can hardly believe all of Eli's bravery because Randy said it was rough watching them clean it all out (he could see his skull!) and then he had to get 5 staples instead of stitches! Randy said his chin quivered during the stapling process but that it was over fairly quickly & he was thrilled to go in the treasure box AND get a double popscicle at 1:00am! And it was blue- he wanted to make sure i knew that. This kid loves blue!
And if you can believe it, they got caught in a traffic jam on the way home because of a bad wreck. So Eli didn't get into the bed until close to 2am that morning! It was a rough night but it hasn't slowed him down not one bit! Thank the Lord that it wasn't any worse than it was & that he didn't get knocked out or a concussion. This is what it looked like the next morning (which, believe it or not looked MUCH better than it did before he went to bed!)
Eli-ism.....
So, Eli is so funny sometimes. I get so tickled at the way he says some things. Here are a few examples...
When he gets mad... i mean, REALLY mad, he will scream & you never know what will come next. However, often we hear "AHHHHHHHHHH!(screaming) JACKUN YOU ARE GETTING ON MY NERBOUS!
(Translation: Jackson, you are getting on my nerves.)
Two mornings ago, he was eating his cereal before preschool. He had to leave the table briefly to go potty. When he came back he said, "Mama? Is my ceweal foggy?" (translation: Mama, is my cereal soggy?" )
We are always laughing at all the mix-ups! And it makes for eventful conversations for sure!
