Big Brother Duties...

Last night Jackson volunteered to get Eli ready for bed. He got out the pjs & a fresh diaper & Eli allowed all this (the child is always motivated to go to bed!) All was going well until.... he opened the diaper & found a surpise waiting- & then it was all over!

Helping in the Kitchen

The boys decided to help in the kitchen the other night... & they did indeed help- MAKE A MESS! But they had a blast, so that is what counts. This is one of Eli's favorite things to do because this is the ONLY cabinet he has access to & he loves to carry the tea kettle around the house.

Can we go now?

We were CVSing.... enough said!

ps- i "bloglifted" this right from Aunt Becca's site... If you want to see the full story you can go here.

pss- See how the pacifier loop is flipped up (where it touches the base of his nose)? This is his new thing- he HAS to have it this way. If you flip it down, he flips it right back up! Oh the sleeping comfort of the paci!

Ear Check in....

Well, this morning was the last of the ear rechecks, & yes Eli had to get the third and final (FINALLY) shot of Rocephin. His right ear was "beautiful", but his left ear was still a little red & had fluid around it so we had to get the last shot. They don't want to recheck for 7-10 days (Whew!). I should buy stock in the pedaitrician's office, huh? No picture of his poor little leg today, he was a screamer for me this time & i think he is pretty fed up with the whole doctor's office / shot ordeal. Can you blame him? It wasn't a pretty sight & he didn't want to wait for the 15 mintutes we were required to in order to make sure he didn't have a reaction. Sooo, the wait was loud & embarrassing (i'll just leave it at that!)

Check this out!

Two Cute Jacksonisms....

Two funny things Jackson said today....

"mommy, we going to eat at the driveway?" (we were getting happy meals at the drive-through & heading to the park!)

Then later.... (as i slammed on brakes on the way home from church)...
"Mommy! What happened? Did you see a reindeer?!" (this cracked me up because i had to explain that we only see reindeer at christmas and the animal i almost hit the other night when i slammed on brakes was just a deer.)

The Budding Artist

We are having a gospel meeting this weekend at church about enriching families & marriages, & so we took a bag of quiet art supplies to church to keep Jackson quiet & content. I hadn't really thought of him as an artist before because he liked to scribble & use markers, etc, but never really stuck with it for long periods of time or cared to take the time to color in the lines well like his cousin Leah does. Lately however, he will take his time, color in the lines & come show me for praises. At church tonight he drew 2 awesome drawings. Yes, they are ACTUAL DRAWINGS of something, not just something, but when i asked, he told me what they were & i already knew (well sort of, i thought the dog was a cat & that the bird was a duck)

here is the cute little dog:

And here is the bird:

Aren't they great? I am so proud of him! This was the first time i had seen him actually try to turn his marks into a real picture. My little boy is growing up! And apparently this is just one more way he is like his daddy- who is actually quite the artist as well! (national award winning in his day!)

Eli Update...

Well, i took little man back into the doctor today for a recheck on his ears & possible second shot. They checked the ears & said they were still infected, a little better, but still infected. Sooooo, they had to do another shot. However, Eli handled it much better today than Wednesday (as did his mama). I was prepared with a pacifier & he was glad to accept it outside of the car or his bed! The nurse made me feel a little better about the situation today too. When i told her that he had limped around Wednesday & was pulling at his leg all day, she said it could have been from the fact that they include numbing medication in the shot to help with the pain (since the injection isn't the worse part, but the medicine actually hurts) & that the tingling could have felt weird to him. That totally made sense & eased my mind a LOT. Eli also recovered much quicker from the initial pain of the shot too, only crying until they found him a sticker. He has been so often to the doctor lately that he starts pointing to the cabinet where the stickers are as soon as the doctor walks in the room! We still have to go back in over the weekend to the weekend clinic on Sunday morning for another recheck, which i am praying will show clear ears so they won't have to do this a 3rd time! They gave us the option of Saturday or Sunday, but i felt like an extra day for the medicine to clear the ears up was the better choice, rather than going back tomorrow, ears looks only a little better & getting a 3rd shot. So hopefully i made the right choice & there won't be a relapse as the nurse put it!

Today he got a red bandaid........on his right leg instead.....

Also, just so you know, my kids do wear pants! I know there seems to be a lot of pictures of them without, but somedays they just leave them off after their naps. I mean, who can get cozy under blankets with jeans on? Makes me claustrophobic to even think about it!

YUMM-O

Have i mentioned lately how much my child LOVES to eat? Eli is the world's best eater, hands down. Even when he is sick, he eats better than the average toddler! Last night, i decided to make spaghetti which is THE favorite meal around here. We get no complaints from anyone when it is spaghetti night & we haven't had it in awhile. Both boys were thrilled & as you can see it was thoroughly enjoyed- Eli even had it in his hair! Yuck- at least this meal fell on bath night!

I Love you....

Jackson has learned the sign for "i love you" at preschool recently & he is so proud of himself!
Check out this concentration..... i love how his right hand is working so hard to "help" his left hand....Got it!
